Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Surveyor

Location:

Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Carry out topographical, engineering, and construction surveys to support design and construction activities.
  • Establish, maintain, and verify site control networks and survey control points.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BIM models to ensure accurate setting out and data capture.
  • Produce survey reports, drawings, models, and as-built records in accordance with project requirements.
  • Support design validation activities through the collection and analysis of survey data.
  • Liaise with Design Engineers, Site Engineers, and Construction Teams to ensure accurate implementation of design information.
  • Carry out quality assurance checks on survey information and site measurements.
  • Manage survey equipment, calibration records, and asset registers.
  • Utilise GPS, Total Stations, Laser Scanners, and other survey technologies to collect and process data.
  • Ensure compliance with project procedures, Health & Safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of digital engineering and BIM processes across the project.

Essential Experience:

  • Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working as a Surveyor on major civil engineering, rail, highways, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, methods, and best practices.
  • Experience using Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, and associated survey software.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and survey data processing software
