Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Surveyor Assistant to support surveying activities on major tunnelling and underground construction projects. The successful candidate will assist Surveyors in setting out works, collecting survey data, maintaining control points, and ensuring all construction activities are completed accurately and in accordance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Surveyors with setting out tunnel alignments, shafts, pipejacking and associated infrastructure.
- Establish and maintain survey control networks within tunnels and surface works.
- Operate surveying equipment including total stations, levels, laser scanners, and GPS systems.
- Record, process, and maintain accurate survey data and site records.
- Support tunnel monitoring activities, including settlement and deformation surveys.
- Verify dimensions, levels, and positions against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assist in the production of survey reports, as-built records, and drawings.
- Carry out regular equipment checks, maintenance, and calibration.
- Liaise with engineers, supervisors, and site teams to ensure works are completed accurately.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures, particularly in confined-space and tunnelling environments.

Requirements
- Previous experience in a surveying or construction role is desirable.
- Understanding of surveying principles and construction practices.
- Ability to use survey equipment such as Leica, Trimble, or Topcon systems.
- Good numeracy, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- White CSCS card essential
