About The Role
This six-month fixed-term contract as a Surveyor, based in Yeovil, covers Somerset, Devon and Dorset, with occasional travel elsewhere. Working full time, the successful candidate helps a social housing provider keep residents' homes safe, warm and sustainable. Duties include investigating building defects, proposing practical remedies, and managing complex disrepair cases. We’re looking for a customer-focused Surveyor to join a Social housing company, helping ensure residents have safe, warm homes across Somerset, Devon and Dorset, with occasional travel to other locations as required.
This is an opportunity to use your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to tackle property issues, investigate building defects and support complex disrepair cases, while helping improve the quality and sustainability of existing homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigating property defects and identifying practical solutions.
- Supporting complex disrepair cases and housing improvement programmes.
- Working collaboratively with contractors, colleagues and external partners.
- Providing clear advice and support to residents.
- Identifying cost-effective solutions that improve property conditions and customer wellbeing.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience in building surveying, property maintenance or a similar construction or housing environment, alongside relevant Building Surveying studies at HNC/HND level or above.
- A confident communicator, an effective problem-solver and someone who can balance technical requirements with a compassionate, customer-first approach.
- RICS membership would be advantageous but is not essential.
