Company Description

At McLaren Racing, we’re not just here to try to take the chequered flag. We’re here to excite our fans, inspire our people and deliver for our partners. And we’re also committed to evolving our sport, our industry, and our technology, too.

Job Description

As a Suspension Design Engineer, you will lead the concept and detailed design of innovative brake thermal management systems for our Formula One race cars.

Working at the interface of Aerodynamics, Suspension, Vehicle Design, Structural Analysis and Manufacturing, you'll transform aerodynamic concepts into lightweight, reliable and manufacturable engineering solutions. From new car development to in-season upgrades, you'll solve complex packaging challenges and contribute directly to on-track performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Design composite and metallic brake thermal management components and assemblies from concept through to release
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex packaging and integration challenges within highly constrained design environments
  • Translate aerodynamic requirements into robust, lightweight and manufacturable designs
  • Collaborate with Aerodynamics, Vehicle Design, Structural Analysis, Manufacturing, Test and Race Engineering teams
  • Produce high-quality CAD models, engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Support manufacture, build, testing and race activities, resolving issues as they arise
  • Investigate reliability concerns and deliver effective engineering solutions
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies, design methods and engineering standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
