Sustainability Advisor
Location: Cumbria (onsite role)
Salary: £45,000 + Strong benefits + lodging available if required
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Sustainability Advisor to join a major civil engineering programme on a highly regulated nuclear site in Cumbria. Supporting the Sustainability Manager and wider project team, you will play a key role in driving sustainability performance across the project, ensuring environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives are embedded into day-to-day operations.
The successful candidate will help deliver sustainability initiatives, support carbon reduction targets, monitor project performance, and promote best practice throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to work on a nationally significant infrastructure programme within one of the UK's most complex construction environments.

Key Responsibilities of the Sustainability Advisor
- Support the delivery of the project's sustainability strategy and associated environmental and social value objectives.
- Monitor, analyse, and report sustainability performance data, including carbon emissions, waste, resource efficiency, and environmental targets.
- Work closely with project teams and subcontractors to promote sustainable construction practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct sustainability inspections, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Assist with stakeholder engagement, sustainability reporting, and the delivery of social value commitments across the project.

Requirements of the Sustainability Advisor
- Experience in Sustainability or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction projects.
- Good knowledge of sustainability principles, carbon reduction strategies, environmental management, and ESG frameworks.
- Experience monitoring sustainability performance and supporting the implementation of sustainability initiatives on site.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with project teams and supply chain partners.
- Relevant degree, professional qualification, or equivalent experience in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
