About the Role
Sustainability is an area that’s changing fast, and we’re looking for a Sustainability Analyst to join our team and support the work we’re doing across the business.
Working closely with the Sustainability Manager, you’ll support a range of sustainability reporting, regulatory, and data activities, helping us respond to current and emerging UK and EU requirements. This covers a broad range of topics including carbon, food waste, packaging, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
You’ll have the opportunity to work with different teams and stakeholders across Booker, helping to turn complex information into clear and practical guidance. You’ll also support customer sustainability reporting, the tracking of our corporate targets, and improvements to the way we collect, manage, and report sustainability data.
There’s plenty of variety in the role, from working with data and supporting reporting, to helping create guidance and engagement materials, joining stakeholder discussions, and looking for ways we can improve our processes. It’s a great opportunity for someone who is curious, analytical, and keen to develop their knowledge of sustainability in a fast-moving environment.
You will be responsible for
- Supporting the Sustainability Manager in assessing and embedding current and emerging sustainability requirements into business processes.
- Staying up to date with UK and EU sustainability legislation and supporting its implementation across the business.
- Helping to turn complex regulatory and technical information into clear, practical guidance for different stakeholders.
- Collecting, analyzing, and reporting sustainability data across areas including carbon, packaging, EPR, EUDR, and food waste.
- Supporting customer sustainability reporting and the tracking of corporate targets across carbon, food waste, and packaging.
- Supporting improvements to data flows, controls, and reporting processes to help strengthen data quality and governance.
- Helping to develop engagement materials including presentations, guidance documents, briefings, webinars, and internal communications.
- Supporting stakeholder meetings and discussions, helping to ensure actions, responsibilities, and next steps are clear.
- Helping to identify and support continuous improvement opportunities across sustainability reporting, processes, and engagement.
- Working collaboratively with teams across Booker to support our sustainability priorities and help ensure everyone feels welcome.

You will need
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex data sets.
- Experience using data management, visualization, and reporting tools such as Excel and Microsoft 365; Tableau experience would be beneficial.
- Good process management skills and an interest in improving data quality, controls, and efficiency.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory and technical information clearly.
- The ability to build positive relationships and work confidently with different teams and stakeholders.
- The ability to create clear and engaging communications and materials for different audiences.
- Confidence contributing to meetings and discussions, with support and guidance where needed.
- A proactive and curious approach, with an interest in emerging UK and EU sustainability legislation.
- An interest in areas such as carbon, food waste, packaging, and continuous process improvement.
- Good attention to detail and a focus on accuracy, compliance, and data reliability.
- The ability to manage changing priorities, flag what needs attention, and meet deadlines.
