Overview
ABM UK is seeking a proactive and engaging Sustainability & Social Impact Advisor to support the delivery of environmental, sustainability, and social value objectives across our operations at Heathrow Airport.
ABM UK has been delivering award-winning facilities and aviation service solutions since 1987, supporting clients across more than 1,500 locations throughout the UK. At Heathrow Airport, our teams provide critical operational and frontline services within one of the UK's busiest and most complex environments.
This advisor-level role will support the implementation of sustainability and ESG initiatives across the Heathrow contract, with a particular focus on delivering measurable social impact and positive community outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, suppliers, community partners, and client stakeholders to help embed sustainable practices, support environmental objectives, and coordinate social impact activity aligned to contract commitments and Heathrow's wider sustainability ambitions.
The role will involve supporting environmental and sustainability reporting, employee engagement, community programs, volunteering initiatives, local employment activity, and wider ESG performance improvement across the site. The successful candidate should be passionate about sustainability and social impact, highly organized, and confident working within a fast-paced operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of ABM's sustainability, ESG, and social impact commitments across the Heathrow Airport contract
- Coordinate and support social impact initiatives including community engagement activities, volunteering programs, local employment opportunities, apprenticeships, wellbeing initiatives, and education outreach programs
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local charities, community groups, education providers, suppliers, and key stakeholders to support the delivery of social impact objectives
- Support operational teams in embedding sustainable and socially responsible practices into day-to-day service delivery
- Assist in monitoring and reporting environmental and sustainability performance metrics, including waste, recycling, carbon reduction initiatives, resource efficiency, and wider ESG KPIs
- Collect, track, and maintain accurate social impact and sustainability data, ensuring evidence is recorded in line with client and contractual reporting requirements
- Support environmental awareness campaigns and employee engagement initiatives across site operations
- Assist with the development of sustainability and social impact communications, case studies, presentations, and internal updates
- Support site inspections, audits, and reviews relating to environmental management, sustainability, and ESG compliance
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and subcontractors to encourage alignment with ABM's sustainability and social impact expectations
- Identify opportunities to improve sustainability performance and increase positive social impact across Heathrow operations
- Support the organization of community events, charity partnerships, careers events, and employee volunteering activities
- Collaborate with operational, HR, HSEQ, procurement, and learning & development teams to support wider sustainability and responsible business objectives
- Stay informed of industry best practice, Heathrow sustainability priorities, and emerging ESG and social impact trends

Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience within sustainability, ESG, social impact, social value, CSR, environmental, or community engagement roles
- Good understanding of sustainability principles, ESG frameworks, and social impact delivery
- Experience engaging with operational teams, suppliers, community organizations, or external stakeholders
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience coordinating projects, initiatives, or reporting activities
- Ability to gather, analyze, and present sustainability and social impact data clearly and accurately
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Detail-oriented with strong reporting and administrative capability
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a site-based operational environment
Desirable Skills And Experience
- Experience working within aviation, facilities management, transport, or other operational environments
- Understanding of social value measurement frameworks and reporting requirements
- Awareness of environmental management systems and sustainability reporting practices
- Experience supporting volunteering, community engagement, or employee wellbeing initiatives
- Knowledge of Heathrow Airport sustainability and community priorities would be beneficial
