This fixed-term cover role sitting within the Volunteering, Communications and Behaviour Change pillar of the Social Impact Team, and is a great opportunity for someone to make an immediate impact in sustainability and social impact communications. The role requires strong communication and stakeholder management skills and will suit an individual that thrives on variety and is passionate about managing change through communications.
This role will play a crucial part in raising awareness, internally and externally, of our key sustainability activities, such as our Net-Zero 2040 Transition Plan. Through effective communications and engagement, we aim to empower our people to support our sustainability efforts.

The Volunteering, Communications and Behaviour Change pillar is central to building our people’s engagement with our environmental and social impact. As fixed-term maternity leave cover, the Sustainability Comms Lead will provide continuity across an established programme of sustainability communications, helping to maintain momentum and deliver activity that engages our people and clients. The role focuses on sharing the stories, progress and practical actions behind our sustainability initiatives, so our people understand our approach and are empowered to play their part in our net-zero efforts.

The role requires strong written and spoken communication skills and the ability to engage, manage and influence a range of stakeholders. We are looking for someone who can step back and see the big picture to deliver a strategy, but who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved in content creation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering our sustainability communications strategy: Lead the activation of our sustainability communications strategy, ensuring activity supports sustainability objectives and aligns with wider Social Impact and firm priorities. Identify opportunities to enhance and evolve delivery approaches based on audience needs and business priorities.
- Managing and delivering the communications plan: Own the day-to-day delivery of the sustainability communications plan, coordinating activity across channels and teams to ensure effective and timely execution. Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to drive engagement and achieve agreed objectives.
- Creating content: Develop high-quality communications assets to deliver the comms plan. This could include intranet articles, newsletter content, slide decks, speaking points or video content. This may involve working with external agencies.
- Managing stakeholders: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders including our sustainability, Internal Comms, People & Purpose, and Brand teams.
- Measuring impact and driving continuous improvement: Monitor and evaluate communications performance against agreed objectives and KPIs. Use audience feedback, engagement data and insights to draw learnings and identify opportunities to optimise activity and improve impact.
- Bringing subject matter expertise: Use your knowledge of internal and external comms, the sustainability landscape and change management comms to upskill colleagues, ensure we are delivering a cutting-edge programme of sustainability comms and driving an increase in our people’s engagement with our sustainability agenda.

The successful candidate will have:
- Ability to quickly get up to speed, build credibility with stakeholders, and provide continuity across established projects and priorities.
- Proven ability to execute communications strategies.
- Track record in creating high impact, engaging communications deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Ability to adapt approach to different audiences.
- Confidence in building and managing an extensive network of stakeholders.
- Influencing skills that enable them to garner support for our sustainability efforts from a range of stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Skills in prioritisation and re-planning to adapt to unexpected requests.
- Experience in behaviour change is advantageous but not crucial.
