The Vacancy

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Compliance Partner to join us on a maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence our sustainability agenda, ensuring environmental compliance while driving our journey towards Net Zero across multiple UK sites.

What You'll Do

As Sustainability Compliance Partner, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring MTC meets its environmental obligations and sustainability ambitions. Reporting across the business and engaging with senior stakeholders, you'll:

  • Lead the management and maintenance of our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Deliver internal environmental audits and ensure non-conformities are resolved effectively.
  • Drive compliance across key environmental areas including waste management, F-Gas requirements, discharge consents, permits and pollution prevention.
  • Lead the British Safety Council 5-Star Environmental Sustainability audit programme and associated improvement activities.
  • Develop and deliver MTC's Net Zero strategy, including carbon reduction plans and sustainability initiatives.
  • Oversee carbon footprint reporting across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental reporting requirements including SECR, PPN 06/21, CBAM and relevant sustainability standards.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, regulators and external partners to embed sustainability into everyday operations.
  • Deliver engaging sustainability communications and influence colleagues at all levels, including senior leadership.

About You

We're looking for a sustainability professional who combines technical expertise with the ability to influence and drive change across a complex organisation.

Essential

  • Degree in Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • ISO 14001 Internal Auditor qualification.
  • At least 5 years' experience in environmental compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing:
    • ISO 14001 systems
    • Waste management regulations
    • F-Gas compliance
    • Discharge consent requirements
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience leading Net Zero programmes and carbon reduction strategies.
  • Detailed understanding of carbon footprinting and sustainability reporting requirements including SECR and ESOS.
  • Experience setting science-based targets and developing decarbonisation roadmaps.
  • Experience undertaking British Safety Council 5-Star Environmental Sustainability audits.
