ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
MNRecruit is recruiting on behalf of a specialist environmental and sustainability consultancy looking for a Sustainability Consultant or Senior Sustainability Consultant to join its growing team in London. (We are also recruiting for them within Nature, Ecology and biodiversity teams so if that is more your area it would be great to hear from you too)
The consultancy works at the intersection of the built environment, nature, biodiversity and natural capital, helping clients deliver sustainable developments that go beyond minimum requirements. By bringing together expertise in sustainability, ecology and nature, the business develops integrated, nature-positive solutions that help shape a more sustainable built environment.
This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and helping clients embed sustainability into development design. The role is suitable for a Sustainability Consultant with 3โ5 years' experience or a Senior Sustainability Consultant with 5+ years' relevant experience.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will deliver and manage sustainability projects, working closely with clients, design teams and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking whole life carbon assessments and options appraisals to inform sustainable design decisions.
- Developing circular economy strategies across a range of projects.
- Producing whole life carbon assessments, circular economy statements, sustainability statements and planning documentation.
- Managing BREEAM assessments, including pre-assessments, workshops and certification.
- Managing small to medium-sized projects or delivering specific elements of larger projects.
- Providing technical sustainability advice and developing creative solutions to complex challenges.
- Collaborating with colleagues across sustainability, ecology and nature teams.
WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3โ5 years' relevant experience for Consultant level or 5+ years for Senior Consultant level.
- A relevant degree or qualification in sustainability, architecture, engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in building sustainability, carbon assessment, net zero transition and sustainability advisory.
- A sound understanding of circular economy principles and their application.
- Experience with BREEAM assessments and certification.
- Knowledge of planning processes and sustainability reporting requirements.
- An understanding of standards such as NABERS, the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard and Passivhaus.
- Strong project management, communication and client relationship skills.
- BREEAM Assessor or Accredited Professional status and a whole life carbon qualification would be advantageous but are not essential.
