Sustainability Data & Carbon Analyst
We are looking for a Sustainability Data & Carbon Analyst to manage the collection, validation and analysis of environmental and carbon data to provide a reliable evidence base for decision making. Support accurate carbon footprint, ESG and sustainability reporting, including progress against decarbonisation targets. Use insight from data to identify emissions trends, key hotspots and opportunities to reduce carbon across homes, assets and operations.

We are a social housing landlord and one of the largest housing providers in the region with over 22,000 social and affordable homes, mainly in the Bradford district. We employ a talented workforce of nearly 1,000 people.

What You’ll Be Doing in the Role
Functional Responsibilities and Activities
- Collect, validate and maintain environmental, energy and carbon data across homes, assets and operations.
- Support the annual calculation and update of the organisation’s carbon footprint, including Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions.
- Maintain and improve carbon datasets, reporting tools and data quality processes.
- Analyse emissions trends, identify key hotspots and highlight opportunities for carbon reduction.
- Track the impact of sustainability, retrofit and energy efficiency projects, providing clear reporting on outcomes and benefits.
- Support the development of evidence-based business cases for decarbonisation and energy efficiency initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Work with internal teams, including assets, finance, procurement and operations, to improve data accuracy and support delivery of carbon reduction activity.
- Translate data and insight into clear information for colleagues, managers and decision makers.
- Collaborate with external partners, consultants and suppliers to obtain data, validate information and support sustainability initiatives.
- Support internal awareness and behaviour change activity by providing clear evidence, insight and practical information.

Compliance and Risk Management
- Support ESG reporting, including SECR, SHIFT and internal sustainability reporting requirements.
- Maintain sustainability KPIs and dashboards to track performance against carbon reduction targets.
- Ensure carbon reporting methods are consistent, transparent and aligned with recognised carbon accounting principles where applicable.
- Identify data gaps, reporting risks and quality issues, escalating these with proposed improvements.
- Support responses to customer, investor, funder or regulatory sustainability queries.
What We’re Looking For
- Understanding of climate change, carbon reduction and sustainability principles.
- Knowledge of GHG Protocol, SECR, SHIFT or similar sustainability reporting frameworks (Desirable)
- Awareness of carbon accounting principles, including Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions.
- Understanding of retrofit, energy efficiency or housing asset management (Desirable)
- Understanding of ESG and sustainability reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and draw clear conclusions.
- Ability to contribute to business cases or options appraisals using data and evidence. (Desirable)
- High attention to detail and accuracy when collecting, validating and reporting data.
- Ability to support behaviour change or sustainability awareness activity. (Desirable)
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain and present data and insight clearly to different audiences.
- Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and wider Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
- Experience supporting carbon, sustainability, ESG or environmental reporting.
- Experience working in housing, assets, retrofit, energy efficiency or the built environment. (Desirable)
- Experience using data dashboards, Power BI or other reporting tools.
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject such as sustainability, environment, data, engineering, geography, housing or the built environment
- Project support or project coordinator experience.
