Purpose of Role:
At The Crown Estate, sustainability is at the heart of our strategy and long-term purpose. We are committed to creating lasting value for the country through our focus on energy and climate resilience, nature recovery and inclusive growth.

As a Sustainability Executive, you will play an important role in helping to deliver these commitments by supporting a diverse portfolio of sustainability initiatives and programmes. Working across high-impact projects, you will help translate strategy into action, collaborating with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to support positive environmental and social outcomes while contributing to responsible financial performance.

Context of opportunity / Main accountabilities:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a purpose-led sustainability team during a significant period of delivery and transformation. The role offers exposure to a broad range of strategic initiatives and provides the opportunity to work with experienced sustainability professionals and senior stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of sustainability projects and propositions that advance The Crown Estate’s commitments in energy and climate resilience, nature recovery and inclusive growth.
  • Assisting with the development and definition of project scopes in collaboration with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
  • Providing day-to-day programme support, including preparing meeting materials, presentations and project documentation.
  • Conducting research and reviewing sector policy, market developments and sustainability trends to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Supporting performance reporting and monitoring progress against enterprise sustainability targets.
  • Building effective relationships across teams and helping to coordinate activity across multiple workstreams and stakeholders.

Most important skills based requirements:

  • Experience working within, or closely alongside, a sustainability team or function.
  • Understanding of sustainability topics, issues and frameworks, with a genuine interest in driving positive environmental and social impact.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence engaging a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability.
  • Analytical thinking, including the ability to interpret complex information, synthesise findings and provide meaningful insights.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach, with the ability to recommend practical solutions.
  • Agility and adaptability, with the ability to quickly build knowledge across different projects and subject areas.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Creativity and curiosity, bringing fresh thinking and innovative ideas to support The Crown Estate's sustainability ambitions.
