Sustainability Intern – Global Real Estate & Facilities - 12 Month Placement

The Sustainability Intern (12 months) will support the Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team in advancing Boeing’s environmental, social, and operational sustainability goals across our global real estate portfolio. This role will contribute to ongoing initiatives including green lease development, scenario planning, operational excellence projects, sustainability data tracking, and continuous improvement activities. The intern will work closely with regional and global stakeholders across EMEA, APAC, CALA, and the Americas and gain exposure to how real estate strategy, facilities management, and sustainability intersect in a large-scale enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability & Green Leasing Support
- Assist in evaluating existing lease agreements against Boeing’s sustainability requirements and support integration of green lease clauses into renewals or new negotiations.
- Assist in evaluating environmental risks across the portfolio and identify key considerations that influence location or portfolio strategy.
- Help track environmental commitments, sustainability metrics, and audit trails within CoStar and Enablon systems, ensuring transparency and consistency.
Scenario Planning & Strategic Analysis
- Contribute to scenario planning activities that help business units model real estate needs, growth assumptions, and long‑term environmental impacts.
- Support the development of sustainability and environmental risk‑focused inputs for lease planning cycles, capital planning, and affordability assessments.

Sustainability Data & Reporting
- Gather, organize, and validate data related to sustainability, energy usage, space utilization, aging infrastructure, and environmental performance across GREF sites.
- Assist in maintaining consistent sustainability data inputs for dashboards to monitor and measure performance and impact of initiatives and support operational reviews.
ESG Integration in Real Estate & Facilities Initiatives
- Support cross-functional teams in embedding sustainability considerations into facilities planning, lease negotiations, and strategic real estate decisions.
- Participate in reviews of ongoing OpEx initiatives with sustainability components.
Safety & Wellbeing Alignment
- Participate in safety-related conversations and awareness sessions that intersect with environmental stewardship (e.g., waste reduction, facility improvements, safe & efficient operations).
General Intern Program Engagement
- Collaborate with leaders involved in GREF’s early careers initiatives.
- Contribute to intern community meetings, knowledge exchanges, and university‑facing activities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Real Estate, Facilities Management, Engineering, Urban Planning, Legal, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with data, Excel‑based models, and dashboards.
- Interest in ESG principles, decarbonization, waste reduction, or sustainable design.
- Clear communicator who can work with diverse global stakeholders.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn about complex real estate systems.
