As Sustainability Manager, you will lead strategies to reduce carbon emissions, optimize resource efficiency, and ensure compliance with sustainability frameworks. The Role
We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to develop and implement sustainability strategies across all phases of this major civil infrastructure project. You will ensure compliance with environmental legislation, drive carbon reduction initiatives, and embed sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Develop and deliver the project’s sustainability strategy in line with client objectives and UK environmental regulations.
- Monitor and report on carbon reduction targets, waste management, and resource efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and other relevant sustainability standards.
- Collaborate with design, construction, and procurement teams to integrate sustainable solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders, local communities, and regulatory bodies to promote social value and environmental stewardship.
- Prepare sustainability performance reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
- Lead initiatives to achieve net-zero targets and enhance biodiversity on project sites.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in sustainability management within large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, carbon reduction strategies, and circular economy principles.
- Proven track record in implementing ISO 14001 and sustainability frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

It’s great if you also have the following:
- Experience in nuclear or high-hazard environments.
- Familiarity with PAS 2080 (Carbon Management in Infrastructure).
- Membership of IEMA or similar professional body.
