What to Expect

We are looking for a Sustainability Manager to lead delivery of McLaren Automotive’s sustainability programme, with a focus on reporting, regulatory compliance, and integration into strategic business programmes including multi-site infrastructure projects.

This role operates within the Strategy & Corporate Affairs function and is accountable for ensuring McLaren’s sustainability commitments are delivered, measurable, and aligned with regulatory and stakeholder expectations.

The role requires strong cross-functional coordination to ensure sustainability is embedded into core business processes, decision-making, and external reporting.

What You'll Do

Sustainability Strategy & Delivery

  • Support development and implementation of McLaren’s sustainability strategy
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear delivery plans, metrics, and outputs
  • Embed sustainability into business operations, product, and manufacturing activities
  • Support integration of sustainability into key programmes, including infrastructure

Strategic Programmes & Business Integration

  • Lead sustainability input into Project Anchor, including:
    • ESG narrative and value proposition
    • Sustainability metrics and impact tracking
    • Alignment with government and stakeholder requirements
  • Ensure sustainability considerations are embedded within programme delivery

Regulatory & Policy Expertise

  • Monitor sustainability-related regulation and policy developments
  • Ensure compliance with UK and international regulatory requirements
  • Translate regulatory requirements into clear business actions
  • Support alignment between sustainability and government affairs activity

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

  • Support engagement with government, industry bodies, and external stakeholders
  • Provide sustainability input into external communications and submissions
  • Contribute to a consistent and credible sustainability narrative
  • Support internal engagement to drive awareness and alignment

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate across Finance, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Legal
  • Ensure alignment between sustainability reporting and financial and operational data
  • Support integration into governance and reporting cycles

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Lead delivery of sustainability reporting and compliance requirements, including:
    • Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting
    • Industry reporting (e.g. SMMT)
    • ESG disclosures
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and audit-ready outputs
  • Develop and maintain sustainability data governance frameworks
  • Identify and manage sustainability-related risks

What You'll Bring

Experience

  • Experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental, or regulatory roles
  • Experience delivering reporting and compliance requirements
  • Experience working across functions in complex organisations
  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing, or regulated sectors is advantageous

Skills

  • Strong understanding of sustainability reporting and ESG frameworks
  • Ability to manage complex datasets and reporting processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to translate strategy into practical actions
