Tasks

  • Lead the project's carbon management and carbon reduction plans for the HARP project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain complex whole life cycle carbon assessments.
  • Manage carbon performance against project targets and KPIs.
  • Implement procedures to comply with the PAS2080 standard and help maintain compliance.
  • Support the implementation and continual improvement of the project’s Energy Management System in accordance with ISO 50001.
  • Embed carbon, energy & circularity considerations into engineering, design and construction decision-making.
  • Support value engineering, design reviews and option appraisals from a carbon and energy perspective.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, design, construction, environmental and project teams to integrate carbon, energy management and circularity into project delivery.
  • Support procurement activities by evaluating low-carbon materials, energy-efficient equipment, suppliers and innovative solutions.
  • Identify and escalate carbon and energy risks, opportunities and innovation initiatives.
  • Maintain carbon, energy and emissions registers, dashboards and reporting systems.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and client carbon and energy performance reports.
  • Facilitate carbon, energy and sustainability workshops with project teams and supply chain partners.
  • Contribute to the development and continual improvement of carbon and energy management processes, standards and guidance.
  • Support business improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned, innovation and best practice.
  • Represent the Sustainability function at project meetings, technical reviews and client workshops.
  • Create business cases to drive sustainability initiatives and innovations, complete with cost analysis.

  • Degree Qualified in Sustainability, Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Engineering background with experience managing technical projects from concept design through implementation.
  • Experience in delivering whole life carbon assessments for engineering and construction projects using common industry software tools.
  • Willingness to drive behavioural change within the project on carbon reduction and wider sustainability initiatives and innovations.
  • Experience in influencing senior management to opt for carbon reductions opportunities.
  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body, such as ICE or ISEP.
  • Experience leading on net-zero strategies, carbon reduction pathways, and sustainability roadmaps.
  • Experience of implementing procedures that apply principles of the PAS2080 & ISO 50001 standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
  • Experience conducting carbon audits, energy performance assessments and wider governance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering measurable embodied carbon reductions through design optimisation, material selection or construction methodologies.
  • Relevant CSCS card.
