Sustainability Manager
Location: Cumbria (onsite role)
Salary: Circa £60,000 + Strong benefits + lodging available if required
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sustainability Manager to join a major civil engineering programme on a highly regulated nuclear site in Cumbria. This is a key position on a large-scale infrastructure project, responsible for leading the sustainability strategy and ensuring environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives are embedded throughout project delivery.
Working within a complex and safety-critical environment, the successful candidate will play a vital role in driving sustainable construction practices, reducing environmental impact, supporting social value initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, client requirements, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and implement the project's sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry best practice.
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance, including carbon reduction, waste management, and resource efficiency targets.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and project sustainability commitments.
- Collaborate with project teams and supply chain partners to embed sustainable construction methods throughout delivery.
- Drive social value, environmental improvement, and continuous sustainability initiatives across the project.

Requirements
- Proven experience in a Sustainability Manager or Environmental Manager role within civil engineering, infrastructure, or major construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, ESG objectives, carbon management, and environmental compliance.
- Experience developing and delivering sustainability strategies on large-scale projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and reporting skills.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
