Role: Sustainability Project Manager

Salary: £32,034 - £40,043 (FTE £49,375)

Hours: 24 - 30 hours per week (Worked over 3 or 4 days)

Location: Worthing/Hybrid

Contract type: 12-month Fixed Term Contract

We're looking for a driven and collaborative Sustainability Project Manager to join us on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract (maternity cover). This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of our environmental ambitions, influence change across the organisation, and contribute to our transition to net zero carbon.

Worthing Homes is a forward-looking housing association dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality homes and services to our local communities. We're a small but dynamic organisation, managing 4,000 homes serving over 10,000 residents across our range of properties from social housing to sheltered accommodation to shared ownership properties.

About The Role

As Sustainability Project Manager, you'll help deliver Worthing Homes' sustainability objectives and support the organisation's transition to a net zero future.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you'll embed sustainability considerations into decision-making, lead on performance monitoring and reporting, and ensure we remain informed by emerging legislation, sector developments and best practice.

You'll manage and support on a range of projects focused on low carbon retrofit, energy efficiency and biodiversity improvements, while supporting our development team with low-carbon new homes. From identifying opportunities and managing budgets to evaluating outcomes and driving continuous improvement, you'll translate strategic priorities into practical initiatives that benefit our homes, customers and communities.

You'll also develop strong relationships with grant funding bodies, local authorities, contractors and sector partners to secure investment and maximise opportunities. Working closely with teams across procurement, operations, asset management and development, you'll promote sustainable approaches, encourage innovation and help deliver lasting environmental improvements across the business.

About You

We're looking for a collaborative and driven sustainability professional with experience delivering carbon reduction, energy efficiency or sustainability projects within housing, property, construction or the wider built environment. You'll be passionate about creating positive social and environmental impact and confident influencing others to embed sustainable practices.

You'll have a strong understanding of sustainability principles, energy and water efficiency measures, and approaches to tackling fuel poverty. Knowledge of the affordable housing sector would be an advantage.

With excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and project management skills, you'll be able to build strong partnerships, develop compelling business cases and funding bids, and deliver innovative solutions that support our journey to a more sustainable future.
