Description

About Anthesis:

Anthesis is the sustainability activator. Proud to be a B Corp, we seek to make a significant contribution to a world which is more resilient and productive. We do this by working with cities, corporates, investors and other organisations to drive sustainable performance. We develop financially driven sustainability strategies, underpinned by technical expertise and delivered by innovative collaborative teams across the world.

At Anthesis Group, we are truly committed to putting people and our planet at the heart of all we do.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and commercially sharp leader to take on a newly created role: Sustainable/Circular Products & Packaging Growth Portfolio Lead. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of circularity within our global business line, driving growth for services and teams that help organizations transition to more sustainable solutions across Products, Packaging, Own Operations and Services.

This is not a pure sales role. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical and/or commercial grounding in products and packaging sustainability, combined with the strategic vision to design, prioritize, and commercialize a portfolio of consulting solutions, and then go to market with them.

Note: Given existing strength in packaging expertise within our team, candidates with a strong technical or commercial foundation in product sustainability are especially encouraged to apply.

Purpose of the Role

The Growth Portfolio Lead will drive sustained growth across our Product and Packaging portfolio, aligned with Anthesis' global strategy to 2028 (Waypoint 28). This involves coordinating investment, ensuring clear prioritization, and maintaining accountability for achieving growth objectives, including the strategic shift from core advisory services toward Strategic Transformation Programs and Managed Services.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies, revenue projections, and sales/marketing plans for the Product and Packaging portfolio.
  • Lead the strategic shift from Core Advisory Services to Strategic Transformation Programs and Managed Services, in line with Waypoint 28.
  • Own the sales pipeline and revenue targets, ensuring data integrity and effective reporting.
  • Drive commercial performance through market share growth, improved pricing strategies, and margin enhancement.

Service Design & Commercialization

  • Define and evolve a clear strategic vision for the portfolio's solutions and services, including EPR compliance and strategy, ESPR readiness, Digital Product Passports (DPPs), product and packaging LCA, ecodesign, sustainable packaging strategy, and broader circularity consulting.
  • Collaborate with Solution Leads to define KPIs, prioritize growth initiatives, and deliver excellence across the portfolio.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments (e.g. EU ESPR, EPR legislation), client feedback, and competitive disruptions to keep solutions relevant.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We are looking for a leader who combines deep domain expertise with strategic and commercial acumen. Candidates should demonstrate one or more of the following backgrounds:

  • Technical Foundation - Hands-on experience in product sustainability, materials science, ecodesign, product LCA, or related technical disciplines within a product or packaging context.
  • Commercial Background - In-house or consulting experience in the product and/or packaging industries — with a track record of designing, commercializing, or scaling sustainability-related services or programs.
  • Circularity Consulting - Proven advisory or consulting experience in circularity, sustainable innovation, or EPR/regulatory strategy — with the ability to translate technical insight into scalable, market-facing solutions.

A generalist ESG background without meaningful depth in Products and Packaging is unlikely to be sufficient for this role.

  • Proven track record in delivering complex projects and driving commercial success within a consultancy environment.
  • Demonstrated experience creating strategic visions for product or packaging portfolios and/or consulting service lines.

  • Strong commercial acumen, including evidence of developing G2M plans, service diversification, and/or managed services strategies.
  • Established networks across relevant sectors such as consumer goods, retail, F&B, pharma, tech, or automotive.
  • Minimum degree in sustainability, environment, business, supply chain, or economics; Masters or MBA preferred.
  • Fluent English; at least one other European language preferred.
  • Willingness to travel globally on a semi-regular basis.
