SVO Paint Technician
Location: Gaydon
Join Aston Martin, one of the world's most iconic luxury automotive brands, and become part of our Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Paint team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Paint Technician to contribute to the creation of bespoke, low-volume and special-edition vehicles, delivering the exceptional craftsmanship and flawless finish synonymous with the Aston Martin name.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in preparing, painting and polishing components, test samples and complete vehicles. The role also involves the application of graphics, carbon material tinting and specialist finishes, with a strong emphasis on achieving best-in-class paint quality, precision and visual excellence.
As an SVO Paint Technician, you will be responsible for preparing vehicles and components to an exceptional standard, utilising a broad range of materials and preparation techniques to achieve optimum results. You will apply advanced surface preparation methods, including fillers and high-build coatings, inspect components and vehicles for defects prior to paint application, and carry out refinishing activities in accordance with established quality standards.
The role requires expertise in the application of both water-based and solvent-based paint systems, together with experience of a variety of clear coat processes and repair techniques. You will be expected to undertake paint repairs ranging from minor refinishing work through to full vehicle paint applications, while consistently delivering show-car quality polishing and finishing standards. Panel repair experience is also essential, with the ability to restore and refine surfaces to the highest cosmetic standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
