SVQ Assessor – Mechanical Engineering

35 hours per week | Permanent | £40,208 per annum

Location: Anniesland Campus, with travel across Glasgow Clyde College campuses as required

About the Role

Help shape the next generation of engineers. Do you have strong Mechanical Engineering experience and a passion for helping others develop their skills? Glasgow Clyde College is looking for an experienced SVQ Assessor – Mechanical Engineering to join our Faculty of Future Technologies and Design.

You’ll use your industry knowledge and assessment experience to support learners working towards Level 2 & 3 Mechanical Engineering SVQs, helping them build the skills and confidence they need for successful careers in engineering. We’re particularly interested in candidates with Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering experience alongside their mechanical background.

What Will You Be Doing?

Working as part of our School of Engineering, you will:

  • Assess and support candidates working towards Mechanical Engineering SVQs.
  • Monitor candidates’ progress and provide appropriate support and feedback.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and candidate records.
  • Work closely with candidates, line managers and other stakeholders to support successful completion of qualifications.
  • Contribute positively to the wider work of the Engineering team.
  • Use your occupational knowledge and experience to provide a high-quality experience for our learners.

What Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone who is organised, enthusiastic and committed to helping others succeed.

You will have:

  • Occupational competence and experience within Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience of assessing SVQs in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A relevant HNC or equivalent qualification.
  • An SVQ Level 3 or equivalent occupational qualification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with learners, colleagues, employers and external organisations.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, while also using your own initiative and managing your workload effectively.
