18-month contract role with a local authority

Summary

This is an 18-month contract role with a local authority, focused on supporting the effective management and performance of the South West Devon Waste Partnership (SWDWP) contract. The role is crucial in ensuring that operational, commercial, and regulatory requirements are met. It involves monitoring contractor performance, supporting governance processes, and ensuring value for money while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across partner authorities and service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of the waste contract, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and performance standards.
  • Monitor facility performance, service delivery, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist in reviewing contractor reports and performance data, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Support contract negotiations, variations, and dispute resolution processes where required.

Requirements

Essential Experience Required

  • Experience in contract management, ideally within waste management, environmental services, or local government.
  • Experience working with service providers and monitoring performance against KPIs.
  • Experience supporting governance processes and reporting to senior stakeholders or committees.
  • Understanding of commercial, financial, and operational aspects of large-scale service contracts.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., business, environmental management, engineering, or public administration).
  • Professional qualification in contract management, procurement, or project management (e.g., CIPS, PRINCE2) is desirable.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • DBS required.
  • Location: Household Waste Recycling Centre, Chelson Meadow, The Ride, Plymstock, Plymouth, Devon, PL9 7JT, United Kingdom.
  • Work pattern: Subject to service needs but approximately 2 days in the office.
  • Bi-weekly schedule.
