Swimming Coordinator
Location: The Quarry Swimming & Fitness Centre, Shrewsbury, SY1 1RU
Salary: £13,543.62 per annum plus excellent benefits Schedule: Part-time (18 hours per week) + up to 10 additional teaching hours
About the Role

As a Swimming Coordinator, you’ll lead a high-calibre swimming lessons programme, instilling essential open-water skills, building confidence, and enhancing community well-being. This hands-on leadership role delivers tangible results by supporting children and adults in developing water safety, boosting participation, refining customer experiences, and ensuring our centre becomes the number one swim lesson provider locally.
Responsibilities
You will be entrusted with the following core duties:
- Manage and develop a high-quality swimming lessons programme to ensure strong customer retention and operational excellence
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of qualified swim teachers, including recruitment, rotas, performance management, and professional development
- Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure align schedules meet customer demand, practical requirements, and financial goals
- Develop and introduce new programmes—including intensive/school swimming initiatives—to address community needs
- Build partnerships with customers, schools, and local organisations to drive outreach, engagement, and programme growth
- Deliver swimming lessons when required to guarantee service continuity and prevent cancellations

Requirements
To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A Swim England Level 2 or STA Level 2 Award in Swim Teaching qualification
- NPLQ qualification (National Pool Lifeguarding Qualifications) or ability to perform rescue tests for teachers
- Proven experience in managing or supervising teams within a busy leisure or aquatic environment
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to foster trust with children, parents, and colleagues
- Confidence with IT systems, including booking platforms, Outlook, and Excel

An Enhanced DBS check is mandatory for this position, covering spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and safeguarding protocols. Applicants will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire for tailored support.
