Role Overview

As a Swim Teacher, you will deliver high-quality swimming lessons to customers of all ages and abilities, helping them build confidence in the water and achieve their individual goals. You will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and enjoyable learning environment for all participants.

Alongside teaching, you will have the opportunity to undertake lifeguarding duties between lessons and provide support with a variety of administrative tasks, making this a varied and rewarding role within our leisure centre team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver swimming lessons to children and adults in line with the centre's swimming programme, adapting teaching methods to suit varying ages and abilities
  • Monitor participant progress and provide constructive feedback to help swimmers achieve their goals
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's development and progression through the swim programme
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment at all times
  • Assist with the supervision of customers in and around the swimming pool, ensuring safe practices and adherence to pool rules
  • Undertake lifeguarding duties as required, supporting the safe operation of the pool
  • Support the administration team with office-based tasks and general administrative duties
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent customer experience across the leisure centre

Hours

Up to 31 hours available per week, Monday to Saturday

Requirements

  • Level 2 Swim Teacher Qualification
  • NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding customer service
  • Ability to work effectively with children and their parents/guardians
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work flexibly to meet operational needs
  • Strong team-oriented approach with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Supportive and positive attitude towards colleagues and organisational objectives
  • Demonstrated passion, enthusiasm and energy for the leisure industry
  • Professional, approachable and customer-focused manner
  • Enhanced DBS check to be carried out

Salary

  • Swim Teacher Salary: up to £15.29 per hour
  • Lifeguard/Admin Salary: up to £12.71 per hour
