Swimming Teacher — Basingstoke & Deane Community Leisure Trust

Location: Basingstoke Aquadrome Job Type: Part-Time / Casual Working Hours: Various between Monday and Friday Salary: £15.47 – £19.22 per hour + Excellent benefits


About the Role

Serco is recruiting on behalf of Basingstoke and Deane Community Leisure Trust, which promotes active, healthy lifestyles through affordable sports and leisure facilities in a welcoming environment.

The role involves delivering Swim England learn-to-swim lessons, ensuring swimmers build confidence and progress—from foundational skills to competitive swimming and even national representation.

More than teaching: this position encourages professional growth, mentorship, and personal development within a customer-focused team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, safe, and structured swim lessons for all ages and abilities using the Swim England framework.
  • Provide supportive, inclusive teaching tailored to learners.
  • Foster progress in swimmers, many of whom transition from leisure to competitive levels.
  • Foster a mentality of growth, mentoring, and career development for both students and colleagues.

Requirements

Essential

  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with people from all backgrounds and ages.
  • Hold either:
    • STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming, or
    • Swim England (AsA) Level 2 qualification.

Advantageous

  • Experience with RLSS UK NPLQ, RLSS UK NRASTC, or STA Safety Award for Teachers (training to obtain these at no cost).
