Swimming Teacher - Wyndley Leisure Centre, B73 6EN

Salary: Up to £15.28 per hour + excellent benefits Contract Type: Casual & Part-Time (early, late, and weekend shifts)


About the Role

At Serco, on behalf of Birmingham Community Leisure Trust, we’re recruiting enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our team as Swimming Teachers at Wyndley Leisure Centre. The Trust is dedicated to promoting active, healthy lifestyles through affordable, welcoming sports and leisure facilities. As a Swimming Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in nurturing swimmers of all abilities while contributing to a community-loving and vibrant environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Customised Instruction: Plan and deliver swimming lessons tailored to each individual, ensuring progress and enjoyment.
  • Safety & Compliance: Uphold safety standards, supervise proper equipment use, and enforce logistics to prevent accidents.
  • Performance Development: Assess swimmers’ abilities, set achievable goals, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Technique Demos: Clearly demonstrate and explain advanced/basic swimming techniques.
  • Performance Correction: Identify and help correct technique errors while offering personalised improvements.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Possession of a STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming or a Swim England (formerly ASA) Level 2 Qualification.
  • Strong swimming skills (competency Level 3 or higher recommended).
  • Enthusiastic attitude, confidence, and a friendly demeanour—essential for inspiring learners.
  • Proficient in customer service and able to engage effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Desirable & Advantageous (but Trainable):

  • Valid RLSS UK NPLQ or RLSS UK NRASTC certification (or STA Safety Award).

Other Expectations:

  • Willingness to exceed targets on rounds and contribute actively to team goals.
  • Strong teamwork ethic and reliability.
