Swimming Teacher vacancy – Birmingham Community Leisure Trust

Location: Fox Hollies Leisure Centre, Birmingham B27 7NS

Salary: Up to £15.88 per hour + excellent benefits Contract Type: Fixed term (6 months) / Casual Working hours: 5–15 hours per week (flexible, Monday–Sunday)


About the Role

Birmingham Community Leisure Trust is committed to fostering active, healthy lifestyles across the local community. As part of your role as a Swimming Teacher, you will deliver fun, progressive swimming lessons using the Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 2 swim teaching framework. Your work will not only encourage confidence in swimmers of all ages—from babies to adult learners—but will also mentor students to further progress, including competing at a national level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, enjoyable, and developmental swimming lessons to all ages—from pre-schoolers to advanced circuits.
  • Build strong relationships with learners, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Support staff with on-site coaching and mentoring where needed.
  • Attend training opportunities for continued professional development.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Full enthusiasm for teaching swimming and passion for helping others develop confidence in water.
  • At least a valid Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 2 qualification, with either:
    • A valid STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming
  • Excellent customer service skills—comfortable engaging with a diverse range of ages and backgrounds.

Preferred (or suitable for training):

  • A valid RLSS UK NPLQ, RLSS UK NRASTC, or STA Safety Award for Teachers—training towards these qualifications may be provided free of charge if relevant to your career goals.

Additional Notes:

  • You will be required to obtain a DBS check for the role.
