Swimming Teacher
Location: Whitchurch Leisure Centre, SY13 2BY Working Hours:
- 12 hours per week
- Mon – Thurs, 4pm to 6pm or 8am to 12pm
- Sat, 8am to 12pm (alternating) Salary: £13 to £16.98 per hour (depending on experience) + excellent benefits
About the Role

Using the Swim England learn to swim framework, our swimming teachers deliver fun, safe, and structured lessons tailored to learners of every ability. The team promotes progressive excellence, ensuring swimmers – even those heading towards competitive representing their country – progress confidently.
Beyond the pool, this role offers flexibility and personal growth. You decide whether to take on 12 hours or transition in/out of teaching as your circumstances change. We cover:
- All safeguarding training and DBS checks
- Professional liability insurance (via our coverage)
- Competitive career progression – from teaching to aquatics coordination or centre management

Requirements
You will need:
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage children (baby/pre-school) and adults across all backgrounds in a helpful, inclusive manner.
- A qualified swim instructor certificate, one of:
- STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming
- Swim England (formerly ASA) Level 2 in Teaching Aquatics
- Any of the following is a plus (but can be trained for free by us):
- RLSS UK NPLQ
- RLSS UK NRASTC
- STA Safety Award for Teachers
