Swimming Teacher
Location: Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre, B14 6ER Salary: Up to £15.53 per hour + excellent benefits Working Hours: Any of the following shifts:
- Mondays: 4–6pm
- Wednesdays: 4–6pm or 3–5:30pm
- Fridays: 4–6:30pm
- Saturdays: 8am–12pm
About the Role

As part of their team, you’ll have the opportunity to help make a positive difference every day.
Teaching swimming lessons at Birmingham Community Leisure Trust, you'll follow the Swim England learn to swim framework, fostering confidence and progress through fun, enjoyable sessions. The organisation supports swimmers at every level and welcomes those passionate about swimming (and aspiring to represent their country).
You’ll teach sessions for baby and pre-school customers, with a focus on safety, fun, and continuous development. The role is flexible, ensuring you can take as many or as few teaching hours as needed around your commitments. Plus, we cover the costs of safeguarding training, DBS checks, and provide free personal liability insurance.

Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, progressive, and engaging swimming lessons for all ages using the Swim England framework.
- Work with and mentor swimmers, from beginner to competitive levels.
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for babies, pre-school children, and adults.
- Maintain high customer service standards, demonstrating empathy and patience.
- Support ongoing training and personal development to build confidence in your role.
Requirements
You’ll need to meet:

Essential qualifications:
- STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming
- OR
- Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 2

Advantageous (but not essential):
- Valid RLSS UK NPLQ
- RLSS UK NRASTC
- STA Safety Award for Teachers (These can be covered via free training if needed.)

- GENERAL: Strong customer service skills, ability to engage with all ages and backgrounds.
Good news! If you don’t currently hold the relevant qualifications but are eager to teach swimming, they often run training courses; simply apply and they’ll let you know when a Swimming Teacher Tutor course is available.
