Syndicate Accountant

Location: London

Working Pattern: Hybrid / Flexible


We are working with a leading global specialty (re)insurance business operating within the Lloyd’s of London market, to recruit a Syndicate Accountant into its Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance finance professional with syndicate experience to join a collaborative team and play a key role in the production and delivery of high-quality financial information.

The Role

As Syndicate Accountant, you will support the Syndicate Finance team across monthly and quarterly accounting activities, financial reporting, finance projects and process improvement initiatives.

You will work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Systems, IT and Actuarial, helping to ensure accurate, consistent and effective financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the syndicate financial result and production of the balance sheet.
  • Assist the Syndicate Finance Manager with a range of monthly and quarterly accounting activities.
  • Lead testing across various finance projects.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance Systems, IT and Actuarial teams to develop consistent financial reporting infrastructure and improve reporting processes.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and take ownership of change initiatives.
  • Support the transition/offshoring of syndicate activities and identify opportunities to improve the existing operating model.
  • Work with wider Finance functions including Group Finance, Regulatory Reporting, FP&A, Treasury, Capital and Tax.
  • Investigate and analyse accounting and financial issues, providing clear summaries and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Implement improvements to existing processes and identify opportunities to make better use of technology.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to resolve queries and improve team effectiveness.
