A leading reputable global Insurer is seeking a Syndicate Finance Manager to join the business during a period of exciting and significant change across their business model, particularly within Finance.
About the Role
This role will be responsible for the end-to-end accounting and Lloyd's regulatory reporting for their flagship syndicate and will independently manage an experienced team of qualified on-shore syndicate accountants.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Syndicate Accounting & Reporting to establish a strong financial control environment, ensuring controls remain effective, proportionate, and aligned with the needs of the syndicate.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Syndicate Accounting & Reporting team, supporting individual development, building capability, and creating a strong culture of performance and accountability.
- Take ownership of the end-to-end syndicate ledger, ensuring the integrity of financial records and the timely and accurate delivery of accounting activities.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis and management information to support business decision-making, highlighting key performance trends and explaining movements between actual, forecast, and planned results.
- Lead the relationship with external syndicate auditors, acting as the primary Finance contact, coordinating audit activity, addressing complex queries, and ensuring issues are resolved effectively and within agreed timescales.
- Establish and embed scalable finance and controllership practices that improve the quality, efficiency, and reliability of financial operations while supporting the changing requirements of the business.
- Champion continuous improvement across the Finance function by identifying inefficiencies, challenging existing ways of working, and leading initiatives that enhance processes, controls, and overall effectiveness.
- Act as a Finance adviser and subject matter expert on strategic and operational initiatives, providing specialist guidance on syndicate accounting, financial reporting, and related Finance matters.

This role is viewed as a senior position within the Syndicate Finance function. You'll deputise the Head of Syndicate Accounting and will be influential in the success of the already high-performing team.
