About the Role
A market leading specialty underwriter is looking for a Syndicate Financial Controller to join them in a newly created position as the syndicate finance lead. You will bring in-depth technical knowledge of Lloyd's regulatory returns to ensure accurate, timely, and robust reporting and controls and will be an influential member of the senior finance team.
Responsibilities
- Take full accountability for the Syndicate’s financial control framework, overseeing the end-to-end production of financial statements, ensuring high standards of accuracy, governance, and compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory standards.
- Own the Syndicate’s financial and regulatory reporting agenda, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to meet Lloyd’s, Group, and BMA requirements and maintaining a strong, effective control environment. This includes compliance with SOX.
- Act as a trusted financial adviser to senior leadership, using financial analysis, performance trends, and technical accounting expertise to provide meaningful insights, challenge assumptions, and support informed decisions.
- Build strong relationships across the finance and wider business, partnering with auditors, actuaries, outsourced service providers, and internal teams to ensure high-quality outputs, robust data, and efficient, sustainable processes.
- Lead the evolution of the finance function, embracing technology and new ways of working, contributing to transformation and systems initiatives, and continuously improving the efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness of financial control.

- Fully Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Extensive experience within Lloyd's financial reporting and accounting
- Highly proficient in using finance systems and knowledge of data warehousing and reporting tools
- Ability to confidently own and communicate complex financial information to key stakeholders both internally and externally
- Possess strong problem-solving skills, proactive approach, and solutions-driven mindset
- Experience in presenting and liaising with C-Suite level personnel
Compensation
Salary on offer is up to £150k + excellent bonus and a market-leading benefits package.
