About the Role:
This pivotal Synthetic Chemist role within the R&D team is ideal for a hands-on, practical chemist eager to expand and advance a cutting-edge library of coating chemistries. You will be instrumental in designing innovative synthetic routes, optimising reaction conditions, and contributing directly to the company's core technology, product development, and intellectual property. Responsibilities:
- Design and execute novel synthetic routes for advanced surface-treatment chemistries.
- Optimise reaction conditions to enhance yield, purity, and scalability of chemical processes.
- Conduct practical, lab-based R&D to expand the company's library of coating chemistries.
- Perform comprehensive chemical analysis and characterisation of synthesised compounds.
- Contribute to the development of core technology, innovative products, and intellectual property.
- Plan and manage individual work streams effectively, ensuring timely progress on projects.
- Collaborate closely with a cohesive R&D team to achieve shared scientific and commercial goals.
Requirements:
- Proven practical laboratory experience in organic synthesis or wet chemistry.
- Demonstrable problem-solving capabilities within a scientific R&D context.
- Expertise in chemical analysis and characterisation techniques.
- Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, early-stage start-up environment.
- Ability to plan, manage, and prioritise individual work streams effectively.
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and strong spoken communication skills.
- Good writing and reporting skills, with the ability to document work clearly and precisely.
