Join a World-Class Scientific Team at Asymchem

Asymchem is a leading global integrated CDMO with a mission to transform how medicines are developed and manufactured. Since 1999, we have partnered with innovative pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide, delivering smarter, greener, and more efficient solutions that accelerate the journey from discovery to patients.

Asymchem’s research laboratories and a small molecule API pilot plant at Discovery Park is our flagship European site, creating a unique opportunity for talented scientists to help shape both the scientific direction and future success of the organisation.

If you are passionate about organic chemistry, excited by emerging technologies, thrive in a team environment, and motivated by solving complex scientific challenges, we would love to hear from you.

Why This Role?

This is far more than a traditional synthetic chemistry position.

As a key member of our High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) team, you will work at the forefront of modern process development, combining organic chemistry expertise with advanced automation, robotics, data science, machine learning, and innovative reaction screening technologies.

You will help design and optimise scalable synthetic routes for complex small molecules and APIs while contributing to the development of next-generation methodologies spanning organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and biocatalysis.

Your work will directly influence the development of life-changing medicines and will provide an exceptional platform for scientific growth, leadership, and professional recognition.

What You'll Do

As part of a highly collaborative and innovative scientific environment, you will:

  • Support the design and development of novel synthetic routes for challenging small molecule targets.
  • Drive innovative process development using cutting-edge high-throughput technologies and laboratory automation.
  • Execute and interpret high-throughput reaction screening experiments to identify robust, scalable manufacturing solutions.
  • Apply statistical analysis, data visualisation, and emerging machine learning approaches to generate actionable scientific insights.
  • Explore and implement state-of-the-art synthetic methodologies including organometallic chemistry and biocatalysis.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary scientific teams to solve complex chemistry challenges.
  • Contribute to the scientific strategy and continuous improvement of our HTE capabilities.
  • Mentor colleagues, share knowledge, and help build a culture of scientific excellence.
  • Develop into an industry-recognised expert in High-Throughput Experimentation and modern process chemistry.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
