Systems Engineer (Defence & Government)
Salary: £40,000-£50,000 per year
Location: Redhill, Surrey
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Defence & Government engineering team. You'll be responsible for designing, configuring and delivering secure communication and networking solutions for government and defence customers.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work across the full project lifecycle, from solution design through to testing, implementation and customer support. You'll also have the opportunity to evaluate new technologies and work directly with customers on future projects.
Role responsibilities
- Design and configure systems for defence and government projects.
- Produce technical documentation and system drawings.
- Define network architectures, including IP addressing and equipment specifications.
- Test and validate hardware and software to ensure solutions meet project requirements.
- Work closely with the Projects team to deliver projects on time.
- Visit customer sites when required to support installations and project delivery.
- Support customer meetings by providing technical expertise and helping shape future solutions.
- Evaluate new technologies and equipment for future use.
- Deliver training on new systems where required.
- Participate in the engineering support rota for defence and government customers.
- Work with government agencies during trials and testing activities.
- Assist with technical proposals and pre-sales support.

What We're Looking For
- Degree in Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
- Experience working with networking technologies.
- CCNA or equivalent networking knowledge (Juniper experience is also valuable).
- Broad understanding of ICT infrastructure, with satellite communications experience being highly desirable.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Flexible approach and willingness to travel to customer sites when needed.
- Eligible to obtain DV Security Clearance.
This permanent role requires the successful candidate to undergo and be eligible for UK Security Vetting at DV level. Clearance sponsorship will be provided where required. Due to the nature of the work, candidates should meet the relevant residency requirements. If applicable, reserved post nationality restrictions will be confirmed by the client.
