Confidentiality notice: This appointment is being managed on a confidential basis. The hiring organisation and programme details will be shared with suitable candidates at the appropriate stage of the process, subject to applicable security and disclosure requirements.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the design, integration and assurance of complex and critical capabilities within the defence sector. Working across the full systems lifecycle, you will translate operational needs into robust, verifiable solutions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and delivery partners. The role will suit a pragmatic engineer who can combine structured systems thinking with sound technical judgement in a regulated, security-conscious environment. Depending on programme needs, the position may involve hybrid working and occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture, analyse and manage stakeholder, operational and system requirements.
  • Develop system architectures, interface definitions and design artefacts.
  • Plan and support system integration, verification, validation and acceptance activities.
  • Maintain requirements traceability and contribute to technical reviews and design decisions.
  • Undertake trade studies, risk analysis and option assessment to support evidence-based decisions.
  • Work closely with software, hardware, safety, security, test and project teams.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support configuration management, change control and continuous improvement across the engineering lifecycle.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
