Summary

The Systems Engineer is responsible for leading systems engineering activities using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies across the product lifecycle. The role involves defining system requirements, developing system architectures, managing interfaces, conducting trade studies, and ensuring end-to-end traceability through digital engineering practices. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex systems that meet customer, regulatory, and business requirements.

  • Lead systems engineering activities from concept through verification and validation.
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, functional architectures, and physical architectures.
  • Perform requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, and traceability.
  • Conduct system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance activities.
  • Support technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and PRR.
  • Develop and maintain MBSE models using SysML and industry-standard modeling tools.
  • Create behavior, structure, requirements, parametric, and interface models.
  • Establish model governance, standards, and best practices.
  • Maintain digital thread and digital continuity across engineering disciplines.
  • Support model-based verification and validation activities.
  • Define system architecture and interface specifications.
  • Perform trade studies and design analysis to support architecture decisions.
  • Evaluate technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure architecture compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Work Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Typically senior level of engineering experience with significant systems engineering exposure.
  • Experience applying MBSE methodologies in complex programs.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes.
  • Knowledge of requirements management and configuration management.

  • SysML modeling.
  • MBSE tools such as: Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw | Enterprise Architect | Capella.
  • Requirements management tools (DOORS, DOORS Next, Jama, Polarion).
  • Architecture frameworks and systems engineering standards.
  • Interface management and requirements traceability.
  • Verification and validation planning and execution.
