Work Location: Stafford, UK (5 Days onsite is mandatory to be at client office per week)
Mode of Hiring: 6 Months Contract (Inside IR35)
Job Description: System Integrator
Role Overview
We are looking for contractors to support the configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of our control system environment. This role focuses on the end-to-end management of signal mapping, artifact generation, and platform debugging.
Note: As this project involves internal, proprietary tools (ESCA), we will provide training; we are looking for candidates with strong foundational experience in industrial control systems who can master internal workflows quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- System Configuration: Assist in the setup of control frameworks (SLMP), including defining setpoints and logical nodes within our internal environment.
- Signal Mapping: Support the mapping of signals between devices (e.g., ELumina IED-BCU) and HMI interfaces; update interface control documents (ICDs) as required.
- Artifact & Lifecycle Management: Execute build processes for FPGA and system output files, managing manual modifications and handling security-signed artifacts (tar files) in a Simulink-based environment.
- Platform & Network Support: Perform software deployments, monitor system error logs (Linux-based CLI), and utilize Wireshark for network traffic analysis and troubleshooting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our internal NPI, Automation, and Cybersecurity teams to resolve configuration errors and ensure project milestones are met.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
