The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a System Project Lead to join our Clinical Affairs team. This is a highly visible global role that will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems that support clinical studies, scientific research, and data management activities across Abbott Diabetes Care.
Working closely with Clinical Affairs teams in both the UK and US, as well as Business Systems teams and external partners, you will act as a key link between business needs and technology solutions. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve processes, introducing new systems and capabilities, and ensuring existing platforms continue to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead system-related projects from concept through to implementation, collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate solutions, manage vendors, and ensure successful deployment.
- Play a critical role in helping Clinical Affairs teams operate more efficiently by simplifying processes, improving data management, and enabling effective collaboration across global teams.
- Work closely with Clinical Affairs subject matter experts to develop and optimise systems that support clinical studies and scientific activities, while ensuring all solutions remain compliant with data privacy, cybersecurity, validation, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development of reporting tools, dashboards, and visualisations that provide valuable business insights and improve decision-making.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies through training, support, and ongoing engagement with stakeholders.
- Continually assess opportunities for process improvement and innovation, ensuring Clinical Affairs has the systems and capabilities needed to support future business growth.

About You
- Proactive and collaborative systems professional with experience in project management, business systems, systems implementation, or process improvement.
- Comfortable working across multiple functions and geographies, managing competing priorities, and translating complex business requirements into practical and effective technology solutions.
- Degree in Business Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project is essential.
- Experience within Clinical Research, Medical Devices, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or another regulated industry would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Passion for technology, continuous improvement, and delivering solutions that create meaningful business impact.
