About the Role

We are seeking a System Requirements Engineer to own the capture, analysis and management of requirements for complex engineering systems. This role is focused on ensuring that customer, operational and technical needs are translated into clear, coherent and verifiable requirements that support effective design, delivery and acceptance across aerospace and defence programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and structure stakeholder, user and system requirements at multiple levels of decomposition.
  • Develop and maintain requirements baselines, traceability and change control throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Ensure requirements are clear, consistent, testable and aligned to system intent, operational need and contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to understand technical trade-offs and resolve ambiguities.
  • Work with architecture, design, safety and test teams to ensure requirements are properly flowed down and verified.
  • Support impact assessments, technical reviews and requirement maturity assessments.
  • Contribute to the development of verification strategies and evidence structures linked to requirement compliance.

Requirements

  • Experience in requirements engineering for complex systems, ideally within aerospace, defence or regulated engineering environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to methodically organise complex technical information in rapid development programmes.
  • Experience with requirements management tools and disciplined configuration/change control.
  • Understanding of how requirements support architecture, integration, verification and certification activities.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively and generate buy-in across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in fast-paced R&D or startup environments, with rapid prototype iteration times
  • Experience in delivery of airborne systems within the defence industry would be highly advantageous.
