Our client is looking for a senior System21 Applications Developer to take technical ownership of its core business applications as a long-serving senior team member retires.

You will split your time between production support and new RPG development, working across the applications team and wider business.

This role is focused on a structured handover, service continuity and practical system enhancements that improve business operations.

  • Complete a structured handover before the current senior developer leaves, documenting customisations, integrations, recurring issues and operational risks.
  • Own complex application incidents across Infor System21 and its supporting IBM i environment.
  • Design, develop, test and deploy RPG enhancements to existing business applications.
  • Assess enhancement requests with business teams, explaining technical feasibility, constraints and available options.
  • Prioritise and allocate support issues across two team members, retaining ownership of escalations and delivery quality.
  • Mentor colleagues in System21 support, RPG development and problem diagnosis.
  • Balance urgent production issues with planned development and improvement work.
  • Diagnose recurring problems and implement changes that reduce support demand.
  • Maintain technical documentation, support procedures and change records.
