Role Overview

State Street Investment Management is seeking a senior investment leader to serve as Head of Portfolio Management, EMEA & APAC, Systematic Equity. This role leads portfolio management across Europe, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific regions, ensuring globally consistent investment execution while adapting to regional markets and regulatory environments.

You will be responsible for overseeing regional portfolio management teams and processes, supporting client engagement and product growth, and driving operational improvement across diverse markets.

This position reports directly to the Chief Investment Officer of Systematic Equity.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Portfolio Management Leadership

  • Lead portfolio management teams across EMEA and APAC, ensuring consistent and disciplined implementation of strategies.
  • Oversee regional execution of portfolio construction, trading coordination, and compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Align regional processes with global investment frameworks while accommodating local market structure.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for regional portfolio and implementation issues.

Client & Commercial Engagement

  • Represent Systematic Equity with key clients, prospects, and consultants across the region.
  • Partner with regional Client Coverage and Product teams to support business development and client retention.
  • Translate global investment strategies into regionally relevant client solutions.
  • Support complex mandates and contribute to regional thought leadership efforts.

Product Development & Growth

  • Identify and develop new Systematic Equity strategies aligned with regional client demand and regulatory considerations.
  • Support sales growth through investment expertise, product positioning, and customized solutions.
  • Collaborate globally to scale products across markets while maintaining consistency and efficiency.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure strong adherence to regional regulatory requirements and global risk standards.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams across jurisdictions.
  • Oversee investment and operational risk management across multiple markets.
  • Participate in regional and global governance forums.

Process Improvement & Operating Model

  • Drive improvements in efficiency, scalability, and consistency of portfolio management processes across regions and strategies.
  • Promote automation, data-driven decision-making, and operational enhancements.
  • Partner with Systematic Equity CIO, Head of US Portfolio Management, Technology, Trading, and Operations to streamline workflows and improve execution, while developing new / improved operating model while ensuring regional alignment.

Talent & Organizational Leadership

  • Lead and develop geographically distributed teams across EMEA and APAC.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support talent development, mobility, and integration with global teams.

Financial Management

  • Manage regional budgets, resources, and investment priorities.
  • Support profitability through disciplined cost management and scalable processes.
  • Align resource deployment with regional growth and strategic priorities.

Education & Experience

  • 15–20+ years in investment management, preferably systematic or quantitative equity
  • Experience leading teams across EMEA and/or APAC
  • Solid understanding of regional institutional markets and regulations
  • Proven experience in client engagement and product development
  • CFA, MBA, or equivalent strongly preferred
