Systems Actuary
Belfast / Glasgow
The role reports to the Head of Actuarial, Investment and Spence Consulting and the Spence Operations Board.
You would be responsible for leading in the delivery of technological solutions and improving the efficiency of our services through our use of technology, including the following:
- Define and manage the technology vision and strategy for our actuarial, investment and consulting services, aligning with customer needs and business goals (Mantle, and potentially including Club Vita, Conning, VaR calculations and ALM).
- Lead change management initiatives in our use of technology – for example, recommending and implementing new technologies, in particular our use of AI, new processes and quality control frameworks to optimise our operations.
- Drive and deliver developments of Mantle that are necessary to the efficient delivery of our current and future service offerings, liaising as needed with key individuals in Mantle.
- Leverage actuarial expertise to ensure our use of technology aligns with industry best practices, regulatory and professional requirements, and provide innovative solutions to complex actuarial and investment challenges.
- Act as subject matter expert, taking a lead role in providing guidance on our use of technology in solving complex actuarial calculations and consulting scenarios.
- Monitor technology performance, gather user feedback, and use data-driven insights to develop and prioritise technology improvements.
- Provide key support in the delivery of actuarial and investment project services that have solutions that are technology orientated, e.g. GMPE, DC, Installations.
- Act as key actuarial liaison within Spence for external parties on administration only cases to develop processes and ensure efficiency in the flow of information needed by, for example external actuaries, investment consultants, insurers.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, serving as a primary point of contact for matters related to our use and development of technology, for example, with our IT team, Mantle, and Club Vita (and potentially Conning and Morningstar).
- Develop and deliver effective training to individuals in the use of our technology.
- Identify, develop and lead a group of individuals to support the achievement of the above objectives where needed.
- Report to, and attend meetings of, the Spence Operations Board as necessary.
- Undertake client work that supports the above plus, potentially, lead on a small number of BAU clients (Trustee and corporate). While it will vary over time, split of hours expected to be approximately 2/3rds on Technology Lead role and 1/3rd on client work.
