OPPORTUNITY
Are you a tech-savvy problem solver with a passion for system stability? Do you enjoy troubleshooting, optimizing infrastructure and keeping systems running seamlessly in a fast-paced environment? If so, Millennium Insurance is looking to add a Systems Administrator to our dynamic team!
Reporting to the IT Manager, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our servers, networks, and core IT infrastructure to ensure security, performance, and reliability across the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Administer, configure, and maintain the organization's server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers running Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and security.
- Manage DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy, as well as AD and EntraID.
- Support enterprise applications and services.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure the integrity and availability of critical business data and applications.
- Apply OS and third-party patches and upgrades regularly.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Respond to escalated support tickets and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Develop and implement procedures for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Automate routine tasks using scripts.
- Document detailed system operating controls/procedures and provide user training.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
- Diploma or Degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science or a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server environments
- Strong knowledge of Fortinet networking hardware, (i.e. firewalls, switching and APs)
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms including Hyper-V and Proxmox
- Understanding of system monitoring tools and performance tuning
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Proven experience using scripting to automate routine tasks like provisioning, monitoring and backups
- Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks
- Certifications like MCSA, CCNA, or CompTIA Server+ are a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information
- High level of attention to detail, organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED
In the first year, success will be measured by your ability to consistently perform routine maintenance to keep systems secure and up to date, independently resolving Tier 1 and Tier 2 issues and conducting root cause analysis on Tier 3 issues with support from peers and managers to develop effective solutions. Additionally, you will proactively identify opportunities to improve performance through upgrades, automation, or process enhancements.
