Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Lytham
About the Role
Danbro is looking for an IT Systems Administrator to join our IT team, helping to support, maintain, and develop the technology used across the Danbro Group.
This is a varied, hands-on role with exposure across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking, virtualization, endpoint management, security, and user support. We’re looking for someone who already has a good grounding in IT and wants to build on it. You may have developed your experience through a support or systems role and now be looking for an opportunity to get more involved with infrastructure, networking, and the wider technology environment.
You’ll work closely with the Head of IT, taking ownership of day-to-day technical issues as well as contributing to system maintenance, infrastructure improvements, and IT projects.
For the right person, there is plenty of scope to learn, develop, and take on greater technical responsibility over time.
What You'll Be Doing
Systems & Infrastructure
- Support and maintain the company’s Windows-based systems and infrastructure.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of Windows Server environments.
- Work with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, permissions, and user accounts.
- Support Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online administration.
- Monitor systems and help investigate performance, availability, and technical issues.
- Assist with system upgrades, patching, and planned maintenance.
- Support virtual server environments using VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Get involved in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and wider IT projects.
Networking
- Networking is an important part of the role, so we’re looking for someone with a good understanding of how networks work and the confidence to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Support and troubleshoot wired, wireless, and internet connectivity.
- Work with LAN, WAN, VPN, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
- Assist with switches, wireless access points, and firewall infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot VPN and remote-access issues.
- Help maintain and improve network documentation.
- Work alongside colleagues and suppliers on more complex network issues and changes.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki would be particularly useful, but isn’t essential if you have a good networking foundation and are keen to learn.
Microsoft 365 & Endpoint Management
- Administer Microsoft 365 users, groups, licenses, and permissions.
- Support Outlook, Teams, Exchange Online, and other Microsoft 365 services.
- Configure and deploy Windows laptops and desktops.
- Assist with Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager.
- Support application deployment, device configuration, patching, and compliance.
- Troubleshoot Windows and endpoint-related issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why Join Danbro?

For someone with a solid foundation and the ambition to progress, there's plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and take on more responsibility as you grow into the role.

What Skills are Required
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone with a good technical foundation and the drive to develop further. You don’t need to be an expert across every technology listed. What matters is that you understand the fundamentals, enjoy solving problems, and are motivated to learn. We'd Like You to Have
- Good knowledge of Windows 11.
- Experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365.
- Experience with Active Directory and user administration.
- A good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.

Useful Experience

- Windows Server.

- Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager.
- Exchange Online.
- Switches, wireless networks, and firewalls.
- Backup and recovery systems.

The Person We're Looking For
Technical knowledge matters, but so does attitude. We’re particularly interested in someone who is curious about technology and wants to understand how things work, rather than simply following a set of instructions. You’ll enjoy troubleshooting, be willing to investigate unfamiliar problems, and be keen to broaden your experience across different areas of IT.
We'd expect you to be comfortable supporting users, but also interested in what sits behind their devices – the servers, networks, cloud services, and infrastructure that keep the business running.
