Job Responsibilities
The role will focus on analysing the existing databases, schemas and data structures that support core line-of-business applications, and producing clear documentation to help development teams understand, rebuild, migrate and integrate data into modern platforms and cloud-hosted database technologies. This role is critical to this application modernisation and data transformation initiative, ensuring source systems are accurately analysed and documented. The role will be responsible for focussing on a specific legacy custom line of business application that is tightly integrated with an ‘off the shelf’ Trust and Corporate Services platform.

- Analyse existing databases, applications and source systems relating to the firms inhouse portal service and accompanying entity management system to understand structures, relationships, dependencies and constraints.
- Create detailed database documentation including schemas, tables, columns, relationships, indexes and constraints in existing SQL databases with a view to migrating to Document based databases.
- Produce source-to-target mapping documentation for migration and transformation initiatives.
- Be able to carry out some degree of reverse engineering of databases and applications where little or no documentation exists to understand where logic is used to provide information.

Skills Required
- Proficiency in SQL and strong ability to interrogate data across multiple database platforms.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts, data modelling and database design principles.
- Experience in migrating from relational to NoSQL databases like Cosmos is essential.
- Experience supporting data migrations, application modernisation programmes or platform replacement projects.
- Understanding of ETL, ELT and data transformation methodologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (primarily Microsoft Azure) and modern data services.
This role offers hybrid working - 2 days onsite weekly.
