About The Role

The Senior Systems Developer role at Brightwell offers an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled professional to contribute to the ongoing development and support of the IntelliPen Pensions Administration platform. Reporting directly to the Senior System Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in configuring, enhancing, and maintaining the system to meet evolving business needs. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong background in pensions administration systems, particularly within defined benefit schemes, and a passion for driving technological improvements.

As a key member of the Member Services team, you will collaborate with internal teams, third-party vendors, and stakeholders to deliver system enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and user experience. Your expertise will help ensure the platform remains robust, compliant, and aligned with industry standards. This role also offers opportunities to lead technical initiatives, mentor colleagues, and influence the strategic direction of system development within the organization.

  • Proven experience supporting and developing pensions administration systems, preferably within defined benefit schemes.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex queries for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience configuring and supporting key platform components such as workflows, calculations, reporting, and document generation.
  • Solid understanding of system integration, workflows, and automation within pensions or financial services environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering long-term solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Effective project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and stakeholder expectations simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, compliance requirements, and best practices related to pensions administration systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and influence across teams.
  • Relevant certifications or training in system development, database management, or pensions administration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Developer will be responsible for a broad range of activities aimed at maintaining and enhancing the IntelliPen platform. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing system enhancements to improve functionality, workflows, and reporting capabilities.
  • Providing expert technical support to development teams and operational staff, resolving incidents and complex system issues promptly.
  • Collaborating with internal change management and project teams, as well as external partners, to deliver system upgrades and new features.
  • Working closely with the QA team to develop testing strategies, ensure rigorous testing, and facilitate smooth deployment of system updates.
  • Participating in planning and managing development roadmaps, sprint activities, and continuous delivery initiatives.
  • Producing detailed reports and analytics to demonstrate the impact and value of system improvements.
  • Ensuring all development activities comply with Brightwell’s standards, governance policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Taking ownership of solution design, providing technical leadership, and coaching colleagues to build system development capability across the organization.
  • Monitoring system performance and recommending improvements to optimize efficiency and user experience.
