About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Developer to join our Member Services team at Brightwell. This role is pivotal in supporting and enhancing our IntelliPen Pensions Administration platform, which is central to our operations. Reporting directly to the Senior System Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining system functionalities that drive operational efficiency and improve user experience. The role involves collaborating with internal teams, third-party partners, and stakeholders to implement system improvements, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure the platform’s ongoing stability and performance. The Senior Systems Developer will also play a key role in mentoring junior team members and providing technical leadership across projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in supporting and developing pension administration systems, particularly within defined benefit schemes. They should have extensive experience with complex systems, excellent technical skills, and a proven track record of delivering technology enhancements that improve efficiency and member outcomes. Key qualifications include advanced SQL skills, experience with system configuration, and a solid understanding of workflows, calculations, reporting, and integrations within pension platforms. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively. Experience working in regulated environments and familiarity with governance standards such as AAF is also advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Support the design, development, and enhancement of IntelliPen platform functionalities, including workflows, reporting, document generation, member portals, calculations, and system integrations.
- Provide expert technical support to development teams and operational staff, resolving day-to-day incidents and addressing complex system issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with internal change, project teams, and third-party vendors to deliver system improvements that enhance the overall member experience.
- Work closely with the QA Lead to define and execute comprehensive testing strategies, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable system releases.
- Partner with the Senior Service & Support Administrator and Development Manager to plan development roadmaps, manage sprint activities, and support a continuous delivery approach.
- Produce and analyze development reports to demonstrate the impact and value of system enhancements, supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure all development activities comply with Brightwell’s standards and governance requirements, maintaining system integrity and security.
- Take ownership of solution design and implementation, providing technical leadership and coaching to colleagues to build system development capabilities across the organization.
