About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Developer to join our Member Services team at Brightwell. This pivotal role involves the configuration, support, and ongoing enhancement of the IntelliPen Pensions Administration platform. Reporting directly to the Senior System Development Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, including Procentia and the Member Services Support Team, to ensure the platform operates efficiently, remains compliant, and continues to evolve in response to business needs. The Senior Systems Developer will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for system improvements, driving innovation, and implementing solutions that improve performance, user experience, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience supporting and developing defined benefit pensions administration systems. A strong technical background with advanced SQL skills is essential, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex queries, analyze data, and provide actionable insights. Candidates should have a proven track record of delivering technology improvements that enhance operational efficiency and member outcomes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required, as well as the ability to quickly learn new technologies and apply them effectively within live environments. Strong communication and collaboration skills are vital, enabling the candidate to provide technical leadership, coach colleagues, and influence stakeholders effectively. A disciplined approach to system development, including requirements gathering, testing, peer reviews, and controlled deployments, is also necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and enhancement of IntelliPen platform functionalities, including workflows, reporting, document generation, member portals, calculations, and system integrations.
  • Provide expert technical support to developers and operational teams, assisting in resolving day-to-day incidents and complex system issues promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal change and project teams, as well as third-party partners, to deliver system improvements that enhance the overall member experience.
  • Work closely with the QA Lead to define testing strategies, ensuring high-quality, reliable system releases and minimizing downtime.
  • Partner with the Senior Service & Support Administrator and Senior Systems Development Manager to plan development roadmaps, manage sprint activities, and support a continuous delivery approach.
  • Produce and analyze development reports with the Admin Platform Team to demonstrate the impact and value of platform enhancements.
  • Ensure all development activities comply with AAF standards and governance requirements, maintaining system integrity and security.
  • Take ownership of solution design and implementation, providing technical leadership and coaching to build development capabilities across the organization.
