They work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through specialist motors, drives and control technologies.
Job Description
As a Systems Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing electrical systems design of motors, generators, electrical drives and switchboards for marine and power generation applications. You will be involved at all stages of the system design process from concept to delivery of equipment and systems. You will be working with project managers, technical leads and power systems and power electronics teams to deliver projects to customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate electrical systems to meet customer requirements.
- Define the overall electrical and control architecture.
- Define Functional Design Specification (FDS) for the entire electrical system.
- Define requirements for all electrical components.
- Develop and manage the Interface Control Document (ICD), document electrical and logical connections between the controller, power electronics, and mechanical sub-systems.
- Provide the technical system overview to the CAD/Mechanical team for system layout and connection diagrams.
- Configure and commission the controller software; develop Test & Validation Plan; Analyze performance data, and verify the system behavior.
- Act as a principal point of contact for the electrical design portions of project execution, providing clear guidance to other engineering teams for design requirements, supporting the manufacturing of our equipment and procurement of electrical parts and assemblies and helping resolving quality issues with vendors.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing and support the quality function in the timely resolution of customer issues and the identification of root causes.
- Ensure that ‘Design for Manufacture and Assembly’ techniques are implemented in the design process.
- Participate in technical reviews of designs, providing support for the resolution of problems and ensuring all designs incorporate best engineering practice.

Requirements
- Sole British citizenship with a valid British Passport (“UK Eyes only”)
- Possession of or being capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
- Proven ability to define system-level requirements and communicate technical requirement to electrical/mechanical design teams.
- A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, or significant experience in an electrical design engineering environment.
- Good technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, electrical circuit design and testing procedures.
- An understanding of design challenges for high voltage application (HV 1kV AC/ 1.5kV DC)
- Good engineering, communication, and organizational skills.

What Will Make You Stand Out
- Experience with Speedgoat real-time target machines and MATLAB/Simulink
- Some experience in project management or project planning
- Prior experience on active magnetic bearings.
- A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, or significant experience in an electrical design engineering environment.
- Good technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, electrical circuit design and testing procedures.
- Proficiency in the use of E-Plan or similar design software, for the creation of electrical circuit diagrams.
- Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD for the creation of 2D drawings.
- Good engineering, communication, and organizational skills.
- Possession of or being capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the use of Siemens Teamcenter PLM software for BoM creation & management.
- Some experience in project management or project planning.
- Prior experience on active magnetic bearings.
